CARPENTERS

 

The Carpenter role is responsible for many on-site duties ranging from design-builds, installing and repairing structures, concrete formwork and concrete slabs.

 

Skills and Experience

 

We are looking for individuals who value strong work ethics and takeS pride in the finished product. Responsibilities for this role can include the following tasks:

 

  • Prepare project layout to blueprints and project specifications;

  • Estimating areas and volumes;

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings;

  • Working with wood, steel and plastic;

  • Working at heights;

  • Using levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment;

  • Layout and building of stairs;

  • Creating temporary structures for placing concrete;

  • Erecting scaffolding;

  • Building concrete forms;

  • Working with mobile equipment;

  • Working with cranes.

 

Qualifications

 

  • 2-5 Years as a Journeyman Carpenter or equivalent, working primarily in the formwork industry;

  • Experience designing, building, and installing concrete formwork for walls, footings, gradebeams, columns and suspended slabs;

  • Experience with various styles of Peri Formwork;

  • Expereince with single waler Camlock forms;

  • Experience in commercial, industrial, and/or residential settings;

  • Vast knowledge of Midrise structures;

  • Valid first aid;

  • Valid WHIMIS;

  • Fall protection would be considered an asset, but not mandatory;

  • Valid driver’s license.

SKILLED LABOURERS

 

Job duties:

 

  • Load and unload construction materials and move materials to work areas;

  • Erect/install concrete forms, scaffolding, and shoring;

  • Install safety guards and handrails where required;

  • Follow directions from supervisors and carpenters as required;

  • Operate small machinery where required;

  • Mix, pour and spread materials such as grout and concrete;

  • Clean up site debris and place in appropriate bins as needed;

  • Use tools to drill and install rebar dowels into walls.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Class 5 license with reliable transportation;

  • Experience working in construction;

  • Experience working with hand tools such as skill saws, hammers, pliers, levels, etc.;

  • Ability to read and interpret measurements in metric and imperial;

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions;

  • Hard working;

  • Good communication skills;

  • Physically fit and able to work in a fast paced environment;

  • Experience working with concrete forming would be considered an asset but not mandatory;

  • Ability to work in a safe manner while following company safety policies and regulations.
